Born in 1876 and educated at Winchester, he joincd the Army and
trained in the Royal College at Sandhurst, joined the Indian Arm in
January, 1896, and the Indian Political I)epartment in 1901. Served as the
Resident at Mewar and then in Kashmir as the first Assistant to the
Resident and at various places in India.
In . January, 1926 Colonel Trench’s services were lent to the Government of 1-lyderahad. Appointed as the Revenue Member during the reign of Nizam VII. he served for five years in Hyderahad and on his retirement in April 1931, was retained b the Nizam for two more years as a member of the Executive Council. He also attended the Round Table Conference held in 1930. He had the distinction of being the first British officer to hold the Revenue portlolio and also the first British officer to serve the Executive Council in 1-lyderabad. Colonel Trench was conferred with the title of O.B.E. in 1919 and was Knighted in 1932.
