Ramatirtham:
This is a village in Vizianagaram district of North Coastal
Andhra, where remains of a Buddhist settlement dating to the first century AD were
found.
Ramatirtham is one of the locations created sacred by a traditional relationship
with Rama. The forehead and town statfd at the platform of a sequence of mountains
of strong stone on which are some perennial springs of water, and various locations
each in a way associated with the name of Rama. The Jains have also had a property
here, their remains consisting chiefly of natural caves with slab sculptures set
in them, and some small ruined brick temples. It is one of the few locations in
this route where Jaina continues to be are available.
