Guntupalli:
Said to be one of the most beautiful Buddhist sites, it is near Kamavarapukota
in West Godavari district. Guntupalli is 85 km from Vijayawada city and the Buddhist
site is located atop a hill. The beauty of the spot is enhanced by caves cut into
the rocky portion of the hill, a circular Chaityagriha and several images of the
Buddha.
For a Buddhist tourist to Andhra Pradesh, a trip to Guntupalli is strongly
suggested because it is commonly suggested to be one of the most wonderful Buddhist
websites in the area. The site is on top of a hill and has stone cut chaityas, votive
candles stupas and viharas, several pictures of the Buddha for you to see. All these
Buddhist treasures are considered to pre time frame even the well-known Ajanta and
Ellora caves of Maharashtra. It is also considered that the excellent Buddhist Logician,
Dignaga made this place his residence for quiet sometime during his life.
