Manginapudi Beach (Machilipatnam)
Machilipatnam is the Head quarter of Krishna District. Manginapudi Beach is known
for its beauty and also as a historic port city. Kalamkari art, it was a major port
once and was known as "Bandar". In fact,the British preferred Machilipatnam as their
gateway to India. Manginapudi is a seaside fishing town, situated 11 km from Machilipatnam.
Formerly, this village used to serve as a port. The Manginapudi Seaside functions
a natural bay containing superficial water. As opposed to other seashores, the Manginapudi
Seaside is made of black soil. During the event of Maghapoornami pilgrims head at
the seaside to take a dip in the sea water. There is also a dancing school at the
beach, providing programs in Kuchipudi dancing type. In the several weeks of Feb
or March, a festival known as ‘Krishna Utsav’ is celebrated at the seaside.
