Koti (కోఠి)is one of the best-known
commercial suburbs of Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, India. There
are two areas in the vicinity called King Koti and Ram Koti. The area's name comes
from the word because of Koti Residency, kothi meaning a mansion for the concubines
for the Nizams where the Nizams housed captured women for use as concubines. This
was later converted to house the British resident James Achilles Kirkpatrick and
which was, in 1949, converted into the campus of the Osmania University College
for Women
Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station located close to Koti is a major bus station, and its
a road transport gateway to the city. This station is located across the Musi river.
This bus station is said to be the largest in Asia, and provides transport to all
parts of the state and country. The local city Bus terminus is located adjacent
to the Mahatma Bus station, providing connectivity to all parts of the city. Local
autos, taxis, seven seaters autos also provide the much needed transport here. The
closest MMTS Train Station is at Kachiguda considered the best to board or arrive
from out state destination trains in Hyderabad
