Jeedimetla
Jeedimetla is a suburb of Hyderabad, India, located north west of the city and into
the precincts of what is called as the twin city of the later, Secunderabad. Jeedimetla
Industrial Area, as the name suggests, is popular for its industries. The downtown
features a number of small and large industrial units including some of the India
card-carrying ones. The industrial area is divided into small localities featuring
different manufacturing blocks. HMT Colony is one good example that illustrates
the characteristics of the place. Important industries located in the region are
those of machine tools, pharmaceuticals, electrics, textiles and chemicals. It
serves as the most industrialized areas in Hyderabad. But as the Hyderabad city grew
with Greater Hyderabad, there are many other places which have dense industries
beyond Jeedimetla.
Jeedimetla is the northern most region of Secunderabad and is about 12 km from the
city center. Medak Road provides the access to the region. There are no train services.
The airport is about 9 km from Jeedimetla region. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport,
which provides the service is situated towards the south of Jeedimetla Industrial
Area. A one of the biggest cardiac hospitals 'Usha Mullapudi Cardiac center' (UMCC)
is also situated in Jeedimetla.
