Bolarum also spelled as Bolaram, Bollarum, and Bollaram (not to be confused with IDA Bollaram) is one of the major suburbs of Hyderabad, India. Geographically, a part of Bolarum is in Hyderabad district while another is in Ranga Reddy District. It comes under Secunderabad Cantonment Board.The encompassing area was mostly planned by the British during the time of the Nizams. In the past, more than half of the area used to be agricultural, but the farms have been transformed into residential and commercial areas. Bolarum has a railway station, and runs MMTS trains.
Many important buildings of Indian historical relevance are located in Bolaram, one of which is an Officer's Mess located diagonally opposite to the church and Ayyappa Temple, opposite to St. Anns Provincilate. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Defence Minister of India, negotiated the terms of surrender with the Nizam, when he came to Hyderabad as commander of the Indian army to annex Hyderabad state.
The Holy Trinity Church, Bollarum, a European style church, was built by Queen Victoria in 1847. For this reason, Elizabeth II visited Bolarum to attended a service in this church on her Wedding Anniversary during her visit to India in the 1980s
Bolarum has a MMTS local train station, hence more and more people are opting to live in this locality.The state-owned APSRTC runs the city bus service, connecting to all the major parts of the city.It is 10 km from Secunderabad Central Railway Station and 12 km from Begumpet Airport & 41 km from New International Airport at Shamshabad.
