Gandhi Medical College ,originally name People's Medical College, was established
14 Sept 1954. It was situated at Humayun nagar near to the present-day Sarojini
Devi Eye Medical center. On 25 May 1955, the school was inaugurated by the first
president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. By 1956, the college was in economical
problems, and the govt of Hyderabad decided to take over the college and create
it. In 1958, the school was shifted to Basheer bagh. The old developing has since
been destroyed. In 2003, the college moved to its new premises in Musheerabad.
