Sumanth Ashwin is
playing a conductor in his upcoming film Right Right, directed by
debutant Manu. Sumanth says, “This is a remake of the Malayalam film
Ordinary, but we didn’t copy entirely from the original. We added a few
scenes and also deleted few to suit our Telugu audience.”
He adds that the bus in the film has an important role to play. “Yes,
whenever the bus appears on screen I am confident that the audience
will get excited,” he says. Prabhakar of Baahubali fame is playing an
important and positive role.
Sumanth says: “Generally the chemistry between the actor and actress
is important, but in this film, the chemistry between me and Prabhakar
is the key.”
“After we completed a month’s shoot, Prabhakar and I decided to take a
day’s break and discuss our scenes. There were a few key scenes between
us and we did some rehearsals before we started the shoot,” reveals
Sumanth, adding that even before the shoots began, they would discuss
the scene for at least 10 minutes.
“I have seen the film in the editing room and I am completely satisfied,” he says.
“We wanted to shoot in North India. But finally we decided to shoot in
Araku and we found a perfect village there,” reveals the actor.
Talking about his father and producer M.S. Raju’s involvement in his
films, he says that he always takes advice from him. “I listen to the
story first and if I like it, I share it with him. He then gives his
suggestions which are very valuable. And when he comes across something
interesting he shares it with me,” says Sumanth.
“At home we are always discussing films. When a Telugu film releases,
we watch it together and discuss the reasons for the film’s success or
failure. We never discuss any other topic except films. I never say no
when he suggests something,” adds Sumanth.
Giving an example of his earlier film Chakkiligintha, which did not
do well, he says, “My father wasn’t satisfied with the second half and
he wanted some changes, but the film had been completed by that time. I
was confident about it, but you all know the result.” The actor has been
wearing a conductor’s uniform for all promotions and says that he will
continue to wear it till the film releases.
