Raja Bahadur Sir Bansilal Pittie was born in Johajpur in 1817. Later the family migrated to Hyderabad. One of his descendants. Shivlalji. was the favourite of Nawab Nasir-ud-Daula, Nizam IV.They were originally bankers and established about 100 branches of their bank in Hyderabad. The bank’s branches were also established in Bombay and Poona. He also established a cotton mill in Poona. During the Silver Jubilee of Nizam VI in 1898, he was given the title of”Raja Bahadur”.
The Raja was a great philanthropist. I-Ic died on 4th June, 1917 and was succeeded by his adopted son Raja Bahadur Bansilal who was a member of the Nizam’s Legislative Council and President of the Trade Union of Hyderabad and he was conferred knighthood by the British Government. He died on 24th March, 1935. He was survived by five sons, Govindlal Pittie, Mukandlal Pittie, Narayanlal Pittie, Pannalal Pittie, and Govardhanlal Pittie and three daughters. The family is well known in Hyderabad as a symbol of Hyderabadi culture and tradition.
