Mehr Au Fazil was born in 1882. His father Fazil Muhammed was from Kutch. Mehr Au Fazil was a student of St. Xavier High School, Bombay, passed his matriculation examination in 1900 and secured the coveted Jainabhoy Peerbhoy scholarship. Later he joined Elphinstone College and then Engineering College, Poona. He took his L.C.E. degree from Bombay.
After completing his education he joined Bombay Improvement
Trust. Later in 1905 he served in the Gwalior State and then migrated
to Hyderabad in order to do his best in the Nizam’s Government.
He was a very successful architect of the State and executed several buildings, notable among them being the High Court building (20 lakh). Osmania General Hospital (22 lakh), Bella Vista and Telephone Exchange building.
He was also responsible for the construction of wide,dust proof trunk
roads in the Dominion. He was also responsible for the slum clearing
work and made several play-grounds in the City.
