Kishen Rao. a native of 1-lyderabad, was born in 1869. He was the editor and proprietor of Musheer i Deccan”, newspaper. His natural inclination and aptitude for journalism was so strong that, as soon as he left school, he took to the study of printing and newspaper writing with great interest and energy. In 1887 he started editing an Urdu weekly under the iiame of I)eccan Punch”. In the year 1892 the paper assumed the name of “Musheer-i-I)eccan.” hut continued to he a weekly till the end of April 1897. when it was made a daily paper.
This paper was specially devoted to happenings in Flyderahad and its opinions relating to matters of Hvderabad often proved useful and acceptable. It was regarded as an impartial organ between the public and the Go ernment of Hvderahad, and is relèrred to in glorious terms in the Administration Reports of the Nizam’s Government. As a token of special recognition the Government of His Highness the Nizam used to buy many copies of the paper and distribute them in schools and offices. From its very commencement the paper was unanimously considered the leading and most important newspaper in H vderahad.
