Nawab Muhammed Mazharuddin Khan, Sir Asman Jah Bahadur, Subkat Jung, Mohtaisham-ud-Daula,
Bashir-ul-Mulk, was born in 1839. His full name with titles was, His Excellency,
Nawab Rafat Jung, Bashiru d-Daula, Umdat-ul-Mulk II, Azam-ul-Umara, Amir-e-Kabir,
Sir Asman Jah Bahadur, K.C.I.E. He was the grandson of Nawab Sikander Jah, Nizam
Ill, and married Parwarish-u-Nisa Begum, daughter of Afzal-udD aula, Nizam V, and
sister of Mahboob Au Khan, Nizam VI. When Nawab Afzal-ud-Daula died in 1869, he
was made the Minister of Justice. When Sir Salar Jung I went to England in 1857,
he acted as Co-Regent also. After the death of Sir Salar Jung in 1883, a Council
of Regency was formed and he was made a member of it and also of the Council of
State. Nawab Asman Jah was a good administrator and established an irrigation board
arid started several new projects to improve the revenue of the State. In 1887,
he proceeded to England to represent the Nizam on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee
of Her Majesty Queen Victoria. After his return Sir Asman Jah took charge of the
office of Prime Minister of Hyderabad in 1888 and continued in that post till 1894.
