Habsiguda
Habsiguda is a A planned locality in the eastern Hyderabad, Habsiguda is situated
off the Habshiguda Main Road. Originally it was called ‘Habeesguda’ or ‘Abeesguda’.
The name Habeesguda originated from ‘Abyssinia’, which is an ancient name of Ethiopia.
The place was a cattle ground of Nizams. Abyssinians (people of Abyssinia) used
to be brought as slaves and labourers by Nizams for taking care of their cattle.
Abyssinians lived in the region for decades; hence the place was called Habeesguda.
These people still live in various corners of old city. Later, the place was taken
over by construction labourers, who came from neighbouring districts for the construction
of Osmania University. Habsiguda remained a hamlet untill 1981 under Nacharam Village.
At present it is a part of Hyderabad Metropolitan City.
APSRTC buses provide good connectivity to the place. Secunderabad Railway station
is located about five kilometres away and Hyderabad Nampally Railway station is
about eleven kilometres away. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is approximately
thirty kilometers far from here.
