Ganesh Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav or the wedding of Ganesha (the elephant-headed
God of Wiseness and Prosperity) falls on the fourth day of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada(around
August-September) . It is recognized all across Indian and is the biggest event
in Maharashtra. So if you are anywhere near to Mumbai, do not think twice about
moving heaven and world to be there for Ganesha’s day. It’ll be a day you shall
look returning upon with some wonder.
Ganesha is India’s sweetest god. He has the head of an elephant on which is perched
a dainty tiara, four podgy hands joined to a sizeable belly with each hand holding
its own symbolic object. . One has a trishul, or a trident, the second, an ankush,or
goad created from his very own damaged teeth, the third side stylishly maintains
a lotus and it all a rosary (which is sometimes changed by modaks – his preferred
sweet).Ganesha is popular not only for being a trickster and for his sense of humour,
but equally for his wisdom. He is the son of Shiva (Destroyer in the Hindu Holy
Trinity of Creator-Preserver-Destroyer) and Parvati (Shiva’s consort).
Ganesha is the better god of the Hindu pantheon. This courageous protector of the
entrance to Parvati’s shower is beheld these days as the most excellent God of new
origins. He is worshipped during every event and before individuals to get a trip
or begin upon a new venture. You will also see him properly protecting entryways
to temples and houses, peeping out of schedules and gladly occupying weddings and
other such events.
